The works seen here are called monotypes and monoprints. It involves a method of printmaking that includes placing lithography/etching oil or water based inks onto a piece of plexiglas with a brayer, paintbrush, or other tool, and running the plexiglas through a printing press leaving an impression onto the paper. I make decisions during this process to use only ink (monotypes), or other forms of printmaking and collage (solarplate etching, imagon, chine colle, etc) and to make a number of prints with slight or significant variations (monoprints with intaglio). These are one of a kind hand completed works of art and are not to be confused with giclee or other mass produced varieties of printmaking.
